On the 20th September, Sam from MEBP came to school with the fantastic Lego ‘Build a House’ competition. The year 6 children worked in groups of 3 to design, draw, cost and build a house made of Lego. Although it was quite a challenge, the children enjoyed applying their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) skills in a slightly different way.
The winners of the competition, Dominic, Chloe and Sapphire, won the chance to represent the school at the Kent finals.
Dominic said, “I really enjoyed using Lego for learning because it is different to normal lessons.” and Sapphire enjoyed the collaborative element of the day. “Everything gets easier when you work as a group. You get different ideas and can help each other with the calculations.”
