Friday 26th June, the day that we had all been waiting for, had finally arrived. It was sports day. The sun was out, the sky was blue and there was not a rain cloud in the sky. Everyone had been practising really hard with a little help from the students of New Line Learning and their teacher.
The whole school from Early Years up to Year 6 were put into different teams and we were ready to start our events. The count down began. 5… 4… 3… 2… 1 came the chant from everyone on the field and then the horn blew. Suddenly, everyone was busy either skipping, stacking cups, trying to score goals, dribbling a ball around cones, throwing bean bags or taking part in the relay. We had to work together to get as many points for our team as possible. The Year 6’s were fantastic at helping the younger pupils join in the activities. It was a very busy and tiring morning. But we had not finished yet.
We still had all of our running events to do. All of our parents came to watch us and cheer us on. It was great fun and there weren’t too many false starts. At the end of the afternoon, the final results were called. A silence fell upon the field for the first time that day as we waited with baited breath. Finally, we were all put out of our misery as the results were called. In joint third place was Turkey and Holland. In second place was France and in first place was… India. Congratulations to all of those in India. Well done to everyone else for doing your best. A big thank you to the students from New Line Learning. We look forward to seeing everyone next year!
