Eagle Newsletter – Term 1
Welcome back children to your new Year 6 Eagle class! Everyone has settled in really well and the children are already producing outstanding work for our Inquiry.
This term, we will be beginning our Trans-disciplinary theme of Where We Are in Place and Time. The Central Idea is that: Human migration may be a response to challenge, risk and opportunities. The children will follow various lines of inquiry which will lead them to explore: reasons why people migrate; several migrations through history; the cultures, beliefs and values of communities and future global migrations. The Inquiry will develop the children’s socio-emotional, communication and literacy skills.
During the term we will be focusing on the Learner Profile attributes of being, Caring, Open minded and Knowledgeable and we will be exploring and the Key Concepts of Causation, Change and Perception, which will drive the inquiry.
We encourage our children to develop the attribute of CARING by showing empathy, and understanding the feelings of others, respect themselves, others and the world around them, show tolerance by being sensitive about differences and diversity in the world, as well as being responsive to the needs of others.
Homework: Maths, English and Inquiry homework will be set each Monday on Google classroom to be completed by the following Monday.
PE: Takes place on Tuesday afternoon with Mrs Hurley-Gale.
