Term Two

The transdisciplinary theme for this term is: Where are in place and time. Our central idea is: Exploration leads to discovery and may develop new understandings. Through our central idea the children will be following lines of inquiry which will lead them to investigate: the reasons for exploration; the feelings and attitudes associated with exploration; methods of navigation and what we learn through exploration. Throughout the term we will focus on the following Learner Profile Attributes: Inquiries, Thinkers and Reflective and the key concepts are: Form, Function and Perspective.

Term One

This term our transdisciplinary theme is How We Express Ourselves. Within this, our central idea that the children will be exploring is: Stories are told in many ways and may influence people’s beliefs, values and understanding of the world. Through this the children will be following lines of inquiry which will lead them to explore: how stories were told in the past, how stories are told today and the impact of the storytelling. During the term we will be focusing on the Learner Profile Attributes: Perspective, Connection and Form and we be exploring the key concepts: Beliefs, Interaction and Communication. We have had a very busy start to Term One. As part of Roald Dahl day, we looked at the book ‘Esio Trot’ and the children were joined by a special visitor- Tallulah the tortoise. The children were very excited to meet her and were very careful with her. The children also created their own tortoise and named it in the style of Esio Trot.
